Winning Emerging Designer Award 2011 :) and after......

Good evening all!!

Sorry it has been a while since I last blogged on here but have been super busy with taking on my first big order located in Sheffield @ Kuji Shop - http://www.kujishop.co.uk/, will keep you all posted once my whole collection is in the store :) But just delivered my first batch today so hopefully there will be many more to come!! I am very excited and hopefully will get some great pictures with my collection in store, it's going to look great being in a very creative store situated on Ecclesall Road.

So what has been happening at the Asobi House since I last blogged?  Well I managed to do a  charity event for the NSPCC and successfully donated two of my beautiful Spring/Summer dresses for auction and managed to raise £170 towards helping children in need.

Two lucky girl's dad won the highest bid for the lovely dresses!

I have been looking forward to the Leeds Fashion Show ever since I found out that I got accepted as one of the designers to showcase my collection on the show, I also was entered for the competition of 'Emerging Designer 2011 - Sponsored by Republic'.  I guess this added  extra pressure and excitement at the same time :)  I was the only designer that was going to showcase 2 collections, women's and men's.
Before the show I didn't realise how much and advertising went into it, all the tickets sold out and that's when it came together that this is going to be quite a big show :) I spent most of the time backstage helping my wonderful models dress, when I had a spare moment I did have the chance to sneak-a-peek at the show and it was brilliant!!

The photographer's took some great shots from the show and here's some of my men's clothing on the catwalk................

I hope you have all liked the photos but more from the show are all on my website, please check it out! :)  it's also on my facebook page too!

The award ceremony took place a couple of days later in Leeds and that's when it was announced that I was the winner for Emerging Designer 2011!!! I was so happy and had to make a speech that probably sounded really silly thinking back to it! haha
From that I went to gain work experience by interning at the Republic Head Office in Leeds, this was an amazing experience being able to see how things are done in a much bigger scale!

The girls that organised the show did so well and I will be looking forward to doing it again next year! In the mean time I will be keeping busy and looking for lots of future events that Asobi can attend to :) Must get back to making more clothes for my order though!

Keep you all posted of new updates :)

Latest Happenings!

Hello all again!!

Just want to keep up to date with my latest happenings and exciting things that Asobi is experiencing and want to share it with you all >_<

Recently Asobi was at the Rotherham Show at Clifton Park, we were under the Prince's Trust Marquee which was very exciting as I was able to represent the charity as I did a business training course a while back with them.  They helped with my business a lot and gave me contacts to help improve and expand my brand! It was a good weekend and I made sales which was happy happy times! :)  Here are some photos from the show.................

Asobi's Stall

My latest event was Asobi Fashion's first ever fashion show!! This was a Charity Fashion Show held by Spirit Hairdressing @ KP Club - Pocklington - York, the venue was just so amazing, could not of been a better place.  Asobi helped raise money for a little boy named Charlie Hook who has terminal cancer and his family needs the money to help buy treatment that could save his life.  We donated an outfit for auction and  helped towards the Charlie Hook Appeal, that makes me feel really happy to know I can a small difference to someone's life :)

The show went really well but I was petrified as this is my first show and ever seeing my clothes on models going down the catwalk!! I think the apple sours with lemonade did help me relax a bit though..........:) The music was amazing and the show had a good vibe..... nice and chilled after the catwalk and there was a stall that I set up after and received amazing comments from the guests and other designers and photographers.  Some photo's below from the great evening, the album is on my Facebook page so check it all out:

It's Asobi Business!!

Designed and Hand Made Clothing

Handmade Sequins Bow Silk Dress
Asobi Fashion is a new fashion line that I introduced to the public in May 2011. Originating from Sheffield UK, I design and hand make beautiful and original garments for both men and women, using good quality fabrics.

So why did I start my own business? Well I studied Fashion Design at Leeds University for 3 years and graduated in the summer 2010. Initially, I worked for a good 10 months temping whilst trying to find a job that was fashion related, however, given the state of the economy, it wasn’t easy to find the perfect job.  I have always had a strong passion for the fashion and I knew that that was what I wanted to do as a career so in the end, I took matters into my own hands and decided to take the plunge and set up my own fashion line – my ultimate goal.
Asymmetrical Waistband Silk Coral Dress

In May this year, I decided to buy out Asobi Fashion. The task of setting up a business was pretty daunting but I knew I loved fashion enough to give up my job and go for it! It’s only been a few months now but there has been a lot of stress and sleepless nights already……and I know this is only the beginning!

Things have started to roll in slowly but surely, keeping very busy and some days are much harder than others but there is no turning back now! :) I have already done 2 markets in Sheffield called the Sharrow Vale Market which were both a success for my first time selling to the public.  My women's collection is stocked at Claire Wilson's Boutique in Sheffield and my website has just come live as well so please check it out -

I will also be attending the Rotherham Show this Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th September, on behalf of the Prince's Trust Marquee.  Following that I will be at a fashion show called 'An Evening of High Hair and High Fashion' located near York on the Thursday 22nd September, this is a fund raising fashion show in aid for raising money for a young boy with cancer, where designers auction some of their clothes to help raise money.

Two Tone Zip Scarf
Asobi Fashion will be attending the 'Shaken Not Stirred' Charity Ball Event for NSPCC, this is held at Holiday Inn in Sheffield on Friday 30th September, again I will be donating 2 dresses for auctioning to help raise money for the charity. This is a good opportunity to get my brand out there amongst professionals and at the same time helping towards a good cause.

The most excited event coming up soon for Asobi Fashion is the 'Leeds Fashion Show' on Friday 14th October at the Leeds City Museum, the show starts at 8pm, Asobi has been preparing long and hard for this and hopes it will be a great night for the spectators and all the models and designers!!
